Summary:
The Tulane Corridor is emblematic of the progress that's been hard won across all of New Orleans. Tulane Avenue was once part of the busy Route 61, which followed the Mississippi River, from New Orleans up to Minnesota. When I-10 became the preferred highway, Tulane Avenue went into a decline marked by crime and structural disrepair. That downturn has been deliberately reversed, with many of the corridor’s historic properties transformed into apartments that cater to the young professionals and students working in the nearby hospitals.
