Summary:
In 2016, the City of New Orleans opened a brand new, $14.8-million, two-story office on Earhart Boulevard that serves as the headquarters for the coroner and Emergency Medical Services. Before then, EMS was still operating out of post-Katrina trailers, and the coroner's office was run from a rented facility, unable to operate to capacity. Services are streamlined in the new building, which can withstand a Category 3 hurricane and run on backup generators for up to one week.
